A fund of £8,000 is currently available for 2011 with grants of between £250 and £1,000, which specifically promote the conservation of the New Forest or provide education about this heritage site. This small grants programme is funded by the New Forest Trust Visitor Gift Scheme which is supported various Hotels in the forest.
The aim of the New Forest Trust is to support activities that will help the long term conservation: which will preserve the future of the New Forest for those who live in it and those who love it, now and in the future. The fund is open to all groups and charities in and around the New Forest and is looking to support projects, which will enhance ecology or education in the area.
